Debian Openafs This directory contains a Debianized build of Openafs version 1.0.1 for Debian 2.2 (Potato). These packages have also been tested on Woody (unstable). However, shortly after the release of Openafs 1.0.1, packages will be uploaded into the Debian non-us archive and should appear in unstable in a few days. To install, add the following two lines to /etc/apt/sources.list: deb http://www.openafs.org/dl/openafs/1.0.1 debian/ deb-src http://www.openafs.org/dl/openafs/1.0.1 debian/ Note that the trailing slashes are important. After adding these lines, run apt-get update to refresh your packages cache. If you are running kernel-image-2.2.17 (stock 2.2.17 binary kernel) then you should install openafs-modules-2.2.17. Otherwise, install openafs-modules-source and use make-kpkg to build kernel modules. Then, install openafs-client for a client machine or openafs-dbserver for a file server or database server. Documentation in /usr/share/doc/openafs-client explains how to configure a cell. The example of configuring a cell uses an openafs-krb5 package not currently included on this site. This package was not included because it is not part of the main Openafs distribution, although it will be available in the upload to woody. Without openafs-krb5, you can build your own aklog from source, or build Heimdal with AFS support. I have not had a chance to test these methods of obtaining tokens. -- Sam Hartman
